When your recipe calls for buttermilk and you could of swore you had half a gallon in the refrigerator, but find out you don't, what do you do? You take that lemon in the bottom of the crisper and squeeze out 1 tablespoon and enough milk to make 1 cup. Let it stand a few minutes. Instant buttermilk. If you don't have the lemon, use 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Happy baking!
