Happy New Year ya'll (Texas slang for you all)!

I'm not superstitious-even though I do knock on wood every once-in-awhile-but I do believe in traditions. We all have traditions whether it be the keep sake ornaments on the Christmas tree every year, eggnog, hot chocolate and cookies on Christmas eve before the kids snuggle in for a night of visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads or certain foods prepared for the New Years dinner.

I guess that's why I prepare the same New Years meal every year. Tradition, but still, everyone loves it! So I get up and start the preparations for glazed ham for prosperity, black-eyed peas for wealth and fried cabbage for money. I added in the pan-fried potatoes only because the cowboy (my husband) enjoys his spuds with nearly every meal. I mean really, who am I to come between a man and his meat and potatoes, right?

Since the menu was already bursting with good fortune, I omitted the cornbread and replaced it with golden rolls instead. I figured someone else may need that bar of gold more than myself. No sense in being greedy.

No matter what you traditions are, eat, drink and be merry and I wish you all the best for the coming year. Check out this scrumptious meal!
